Table Top Photography

“Table Top” photos are sometimes called “Product” or “Catalog” photos. These photos are usually the item shot against a plain white (or black) background, and usually used on a web site or in an on-line auction, brochures, booklets, catalogs, etc.

We specialize in shots where the photos are typically intended for use on web site stores and auction sites, E-catalogs, and similar purposes. Our photos can also be used in printed catalogs, brochures, advertising displays, etc. Please let us know if that is your intended use, before we start your project shoot.

Here are some samples of our tabletop photography.

How it works...

You bring, or ship, the item(s) to me.

  • If you bring the item(s), you are welcome to stay during the photo shoot to arrange the item(s) as you wish. This might increase the number of shots taken during an hour, so you might get more photos for your money. Please call ahead for an appointment.

  • If you ship the item(s), include a sketch of the arrangement or orientation of the item(s) if you have a preference.

I shoot the item(s) either as I think most appropriate, or as you arranged them, or according to your sketch.

For best results, we recommend one item per photo, except where the items are a set or a pair (earrings, or wedding/engagement ring set, salt & pepper shakers, etc.), or otherwise “go together”.

If you ship the items to me, and want them returned, I will ship the items COD for the cost of the packing, shipping, and insurance.

What you get...

The number of photos taken per hour will vary, depending on the complexity of the setup for each item. Simple setups run about 10 - 15 shots per hour. Setups for metallic jewelry, glassware, gloss-glazed ceramics, and similar reflective items might take longer. Some unusually complex subjects and setups can take an hour or more.

  • For one tabletop session, we shot 12 items in an hour, taking three slightly different photos of each item, for a total of 36 photos.
  • For another, easier, tabletop session, we shot 24 items in 35 minutes.

Your smaller products or items expertly photographed on our “3D” tabletop stage, with larger items photographed in front of our seamless background, and using multiple lights. The photos are burned on your choice of a CD-R or DVD+/-R (please specify). Sorry, the files on a ZIP disk is not available.

Note that editing the photos is not included
as a part of the photography.
