Here are the prices for my photography, and my image editing services.
My photographic services are designed for web sites, brochures, booklets, phone book ads, real estate guides, newspapers, etc.
My photographic services are not intended for use in commercially printed, glossy paper products such as catalogs, “coffee table” books, national magazines, and so on, although the quality of my photos is certainly good enough that they can be used for such purposes. Please let me know beforehand that you intend to use the photos in such places.
Photography Services Prices.
Product / Tabletop photos. $40 per hour with a minimum of 1/2 hour, plus a per-session setup fee of $20.
The number of items photographed, or the number of photographs taken, will vary depending on the complexity of the shot. Simple setups run about 10 - 15 shots per hour. Setups for metallic jewelry, glass, and other highly reflective items might take longer, to minimize reflections and “hot spots”.
I recommend only one item per photo, unless the items are a set or a pair, or otherwise “go together”.
Taking product photos for a web site involves trying to determine the optimum way to shoot the item (arrangement on the stage, arrangement of lights, camera position and angle, etc.), while keeping in mind the need to show detail and color, within the constraints of the size and quality limitations of photos on a web site, and the available display method on the web page - whether to display a single photo, or a rollover photo set, or popups in a larger window, etc.
Event photos. $30 per hour with a minimum of two “shooting” hours, plus travel fee to the shoot location. Any additional travel is included in the hourly rate. There is no setup fee.
The number of photographs taken will vary, but is usually at least 30 photos per hour.
Event photos do not include or involve any lighting equipment. We shoot with either an on-camera flash, or available lighting, or both.
Location photos. $30 per hour with a minimum of two “shooting” hours, plus travel fee to the shoot location. Any additional travel is included in the hourly rate. There is no setup fee
The number of photographs taken will vary depending on the complexity of the shots, and the amount of time to set up the shot.
Location photos do not include or involve any lighting equipment. We shoot with either an on-camera flash, or available lighting, or both.
Wedding and Reception photos. Same as Event photos.
Directories. $40 per hour with a minimum of five “shooting” hours, plus one round trip travel fee.
The number of photographs taken will vary, but is approximately one person or group every 5 minutes.
Directory photos do include “studio” lights and backgrounds.
Travel fee (round trip). In coastal Mississippi, $10 for Harrison County, $20 for Hancock, Jackson, and Stone Counties, and $30 for Pearl River and George counties. $40 for Louisiana or Alabama locations. Any additional travel is included in the hourly rate.
All photography services include giving you your UNedited photos on as many CD-R or DVD+/-R disks (please specify) as needed to hold all your photos.

Image Editing Services Prices.
Editing for use on a web page - $20 per hour, minimum of 1/2 hour, no setup fee. Fractional hours are rounded up to the next 15 minutes. Editing includes resizing, cropping, color correction, retouching, conversion to JPG or GIF format as appropriate for the subject, etc., as needed to look good on a web page, and file compression for faster downloading on a web page. Your original photo file is returned to you unaltered.
For photos to be used on a web site built by Best By Design, there is no charge for photos that you provide that are already “web ready” - that is, you have edited the photo, sized it to the width and height you want on the web page, it is in JPEG or GIF file format (please, no TIFF, BMP, PSD, SVG, PNG, MNG, or other formats for use on a web site), and compressed to the file size that you want.
Editing for print use - $30 per hour, minimum of 1/2 hour, and no setup fee. Fractional hours are rounded up to the next 15 minutes. Editing includes resizing, cropping, color correction, and retouching, but we take additional care on the details of each photo, making the photo look as good as possible, while retaining the high quality needed for printing. Best results are obtained from an original TIFF or other similar lossless formats. Your original file is returned to you unaltered.
Important note: Editing one image can be as short as a few minutes to as long as an hour or more, depending on what needs to be done, or what you want done, to the image.
All editing services include giving you your edited photos on as many CD-R or DVD+/-R disks (please specify) as needed to hold all your photos.
Quality work takes time and close attention to detail, particularly with image editing. The more detail to be edited, the longer it takes - it cannot be rushed.
Doing image editing includes resizing, cropping, renaming, adjusting color and "levels" as needed, making "full size" and "thumbnail size" images, etc.
Every shoot and setup is different. We realize time is your money, so we work as quickly as possible, consistent with obtaining high quality results. But, in many cases, it is just not possible to accurately calculate the time involved for shooting or editing. Therefore, our estimate is just that, an estimate.
